DEMONSTRATION  OF  HERALDRY AT BERGH APTON SCULPTURE TRAIL
“The Journey”     June 4/5

The Society was invited to take part in this year’s Trail which celebrated the skills used in the building of the medieval church.  Over thirty different skills were featured in demonstrations held in church, garages and gardens throughout the village.

Two Society members held a workshop for the children of Alpington and Bergh Apton school to make banners featuring the arms of village families and the Diocese of Norwich.

Banner 1: l to r:  Denny, Cooke, Norwich Diocese, Neville and Pelham.    

 Banner 2: l to r:  Athou, Thursby and Meeke

At the base of each banner the children put their own choice of device.The Banners made a colourful display in the church.
A pictorial display of the history of heraldry by means of brasses, stained glass, and monuments, along with shields and banners was held in one of the gardens, accompanied by demonstrations of art and embroidery.
